"What kinds of music are you playing on the show?"

To simplify things, we're playing great rock songs. It could be from a Stoner Rock band, Garage, Metal, Glam, Punk, Goth or anything in between. After listening to hundreds and hundreds of albums, we've come to realize that a good song is a good song. Even though we are playing a lot of underground and new material that may not be recognizable, we feel the songs are all quite accesible and nothing so bizarre that your average rock fan will turn the channel... in fact we feel we have big songs with big hooks that will keep people locked in.

"I used to hear this show online and it was more of an 80's program, why the changes"

Yes, it's true this used to be a prodominantly 80's program featuring a lot of Hair Metal and Classic Metal. We would play quite a bit of the new material recorded by the bands. After time the show progressed and we eventually put it to rest KKBX 101.9 "The Box". Torch then did another program called "Powerhead Radio" on KDAM 104.7 "The Dam". (both stations have since changed formats).

Back to the original question. We felt it was time to evolve and give the new bands a shot. When we say "new" we mean the thousands of bands not being played on the radio. We still have an 80's and Classic Rock & Metal spirit, but you're going to here a lot of different styles and genres. One thing for certain, the songs all rock, there's no fillers and no favors anymore. We played a lot of weak material in the past just because it was from a band who once was popular.

Finally, another major reason to work with newer bands was the accessability. We wanted to work with band that were hungry and not jaded from the system. Most of the bands we play are doing it for the love not the money. Besides, after guys like Don Dokken blow you off 3 times for various interviews you get a little pissed off!

"How does my band get on the show?"

Well, we can't guarantee you will get on the program or even reviewed, but it's likely you'll get one or the other. As long as the material is professionally done and you're serious about your work we'll review it. It needs to fit our show format to get airplay. With time restraints we can't play everything unfortunately. You can find the mailing address at the bottom of the page.
