SEVEN WITCHES - "Passage To The Other Side" - Noise Records
Seven Witches continue their climb towards the top of the Metal mountain with their latest effort "Passage To The Other Side". The addition of former Helstar/Destiny's End Vocalist is evident immediately. They are far more diverse on this album than their previous. Jack Frost's writing and playing has sky-rocketed and the band is extremely tight. The album kicks off with one of the better Metal songs in years, "Dance With The Dead", and epic piece of Heavy Metal. "Mental Messiah" is easily the catchiest tune on the album, and "Johnny" fits right along side of it with it's story of a twisted mind. The guts of the album are as strong as anything out there. "Fever In The City", "Betrayed", "The Last Horizon" and "Natures Wrath" are classic Seven Witches Metal done better than they ever have done before. Frost's playing has put him in a new league (like he wasn't already). On tracks like "Natures Wrath", his playing makes an average song great. He sounds like a hurricane of emotion and depth. Frost has learned to not only play fast, but now he's added more dimensions to his repertoire. When it's all said and done, it's a masterpiece of Metal, from the epic title-track to their killer rendition of Def Leppard's "Wasted" this is one you need in the collection. Jack Frost and Seven Witches keep building momentum, God help those who continue to disgard Power Metal. |
