HARDCORE
SUPERSTAR - "Dreamin' In A Casket" - Gain |
For those of you who are fans of the 80's sleaze rock this will make total sense, Hardcore Superstar picked up where Motley Crue's song "Primal Fear" left off. I've often said if the 80's bands would have gone to a darker more ass-kickin' approach a couple years earlier we may have never seen such a drastic turnaround in the music scene in the early 90's. Nevertheless we have some bands like Hardcore Superstar who picked up nearly a decade later and have taken that sound to new levels. While "Dreamin' In A Casket" isn't quite as strong as their selt-titled from 2005, it's still a very strong album in this genre. Besides, "Hardcore Superstar" would have been very difficult to repeat. This music still isn't mainstream, and I guess personally I'm glad, these bands tend to get pushed to go more female friendly when the major get ahold of it. I prefer the dirty underground, pissed off attitude. I think it keeps bands like this hungry and writing better music. I don't need to hear forced ballads (which you won't on this cd). I've been through the casturation of good bands back in the 80's, I don't wanna go through that again. Don't get me wrong, I want bands like Hardcore Superstar to be huge, I DON'T want them to go soft, and with releases like this I don't see any sign of that yet.
