SAVAGE
MESSIAH - "Spitting Venom" - 2007 |
Superior Thrash Metal from the UK. I was pleasantly surprised when I put this one in. These guys are very technically sound and the production very solid as well. I felt a bit like I was back in the Thrash glory days of Metal Church, Overkill, Megadeth, Testament and others from the late 80's era. Ironically this material has never really gone away and can be found in most of the new Metal bands out there today. I really appreciated Dave Silver's vocals, he didn't growl or scream the entire album but rather had a Dave Mustaine approach where you could feel him sneering the vocals. I also was very pleased to hear some good hooks in the songs, the choruses were quite memorable, especially "Servant To Your Death". I must also mention Pete Hunt the drummer. Some of his bass-pedal work was simply amazing, he's definately got some of the better chops I've heard in awhile. The CD only contains 8 songs so it's somewhere between an EP and full-length, but don't worry about that, the quailty is well worth it, if you're a true fan of Thrash or Metal in general this is one you need for the collection!
