I've started this first sentence over about 10 times because these guys have me confused... which is a good thing. Astronaut Academy is simply hard to pin down, they're obviously "rock", but after that your guess is as good as mine. I hear a bit of STP in the sound, but there's a Classic Rock/Pop element to the music and even some early 80's New Wave mixed in there. Now, they might not be trying to sound like any of these mentioned genre's, but that's what I'm coming up. I've enjoyed going from track to track listening to what's coming next!

They're obviously talented, but also obviously hampered with a small budget. They mostly likely did the production themselves or in a small studio. There's some unfortunate inconsistencies from track to track in the levels and even the sound. Don't let this deter you from picking this up, I do believe they have some raw talent and some great ideas.

Overall, they're on the right track to developing a great sound and niche. They'll actually appeal to a wide variety of rock fans. They're not Metal, but the guitars are thick and busy. I have a feeling these guys are pretty damn heavy and fun live.
