INTERVIEW WITH "Y" OF FATAL SMILE
Torch talks to Yxan of Fatal Smile about their lastest album, the lineup, the tour
and the future of Metal!

FATAL SMILE - "World Domination" - 2008 - Locomotive Records

Fans of 80's Rock and Metal should do everything they can to support this band, for they have all but forced themselves into the scene and basically said to the music world, "this is future of rock". They take similar approach to the music as their fellow countrymen "Hardcore Superstore". They took the dirty rock and glam from the 80's and expanded on it. They're NOT like Poison, Firehouse, Warrant and the slicker sounding stuff, they're more of a Motley Crue, W.A.S.P., Faster Pussycat, Shotgun Messiah style of band, with of course modern production and elements.

Most of the album lies between Rock and Metal. Lead singer Blade could easily transform one way or another, he's got the pipes for Power Metal but does reign himself in most of the album, which allows him to have more style. I guess you could say that of the entire bandm, they have the chops to go balls out but they would rather rely on hooky choruses and slick solos with style.

There's hardly a weak track on the album if you're into this style. The first half of the album is stonger with songs like "S.O.B", "Primed & Ready" and "Too Far Down" solidifiying the band's sound. They show a slower darker side too on "No Tomorrow". "Run For Your Life" was probably the song that was a bit too 80's sounding even for me, I guess I've heard that same song too many times before. Overall though, Fatal Smile delivers the goods (how's that for an 80's cliche!). But seriously, they are a band to watch out for, after an member overhaul this year they are "Primed & Ready" to become one of the biggest bands of this genre.
