When
you look at pictures of Leaded Fuel, their album cover, and
their song and band names you're either going to cringe and
make a hasty decision to hate this band, or you'll get a tingle
up your spine and proclaim them the next great rock band. The
fact is that Glam Rock is generally hated or loved. I promise
you this about Leaded Fuel, you will be pleasantly surprised
if you plan on hating them and you won't be dissappointed if
you get your hopes up.
This
is a very good rock band, bottom line. Don't get caught up in
the names, the look and image and just appreciate the music.
They definatley follow the Hanoi Rocks philosophy and probably
lean more towards Punk than Glam. Vocalist Liz Lascivious has
a unique delivery and style that closely resembles Michael Monroe
and even Iggy Pop. If you're expecting Poison here forget it,
these guys are much more Raw, much like the first Faster Pussycat
album. Even though they aren't exactly breaking new ground,
in some ways this recording is fresh and unique.
Leaded
Fuel are also very good musicians, something you couldn't always
say about the Glam/Punk bands. The production is also very solid.
No, it's not slick, it fits the band raw style and the louder
you turn it up the better it sounds. You could really argure
that you get the best of both worlds here. The 80's crowd get's
their larger than life band members who obviously like to party
and raise hell, and the more sophisticated crowd get's a real
rock band that understands what rock n' roll is and has learned
from the greats who have come before them.
