If
you havn't experienced a live Ted Nugent show, you need to put
that on your list of "things to do" if you claim to
be a true fan of Rock. Yes, I know his politics are a bit extreme,
but so are many other artists that you probably listen to so
just chill out and appreciate the music. Now, back to my original
statement, if you havn't seen the "Nuge" live, this
is the next best thing. "Sweden Rocks" captures the
raw intensity of Nugent and his band, which includes Barry Sparks
on bass and "Wild" Mick Brown (Dokken) on drums. The
threepiece is about as tight as you can get, Sparks and Brown
hold these classic songs up to a new level, and Nugent is well...
Nugent.
Often
Ted Nugent doesn't get credit for his guitar playing. If you
hear him live you'll have a completely new respect for his blues-laced
heavy rock style. To sing AND play like he does takes a real
talent, one that only Nugent can deliver. He tears through classics
like "Wango Tango", "Dog Eat Dog" and "Cat
Scratch Fever" on his way to the gigantic jamming "Great
White Buffalo". He throws in a few new tunes like "Raw
Dogs & War Hogs", but generally sticks to the songs
you want to hear, the hits from his hey-days.
Nugent
truly is one-of-a-kind, we will NEVER see anything like him
again because the diverse music scene has splintered and live
music isn't appreciated like it used to be. Plus we have video
games, the internet and a million other things to occupy our
time. I do reccomend taking an hour or so of your precious time
and listen to a true legend at his best, Sweden truly does Rock!
