NAUGHTY BOYS - "No-Bless Oblige" - 2009

I'm not sure how many times I said it to people or on the show, but Sweden is without a doubt the best country in the world for melodic Hard Rock, or as some call it AOR. Naughty Boys continue the tradition of superb Swedish Hard Rock. They're not breaking any new ground, but they don't have to, in fact, fans of this style would probably prefer they don't. Having said that, they don't sound "dated" or "old", they bring an enthusiasm to the music and generally sound like they love what they're doing.

Well, so far I've called them Hard Rock and AOR... what do they actually sound like? Well, I hear some White Lion (maybe in the vocals mostly) and a mix of many other bands. They remind me a bit of another Swedish band "Damned Nation" but with a little more of an edge. Put it this way, fans of Whitesnake, Journey, Hardline, Firehouse or any band of this nature are going to like this material. Even though they're melodic, they do have a good edge that journies into Metal at times. I think if the teenagers getting into music now would give them a chance they would fall in love with this style of music. It's very accessible and easy to relate to, these guys are talking mostly about every day issues and having fun at the same time. Excellent release, one for the collection for sure.
