VIOLENT DIVINE - "In Harm's Way" - Misty Recordings - 2009

Violent Divine represent the future of Rock in my opinion. They contain elements from the band 30 years and have blended it into a superb Rock sound. You can break down the sound and hear sounds from the 80's, 80's and from the last decade. They have crunchy clean guitars with monster riffs, melodic choruses that aren't overbearing and they land somewhere between Rock and Metal. One might think that with Hammerfall guitarist Pontus Norgren mixing and producing that it would have a big Arena Rock sound. Actually, Norgren mixed this perfectly with the sound, it's a tight, solid sound that is a good mix of modern and a more classic rock style.

They have a good groove to the music that represents a more modern sound, but they also have an element of sleaze to the music that will please a more 80's crowd. The tracks themselves are very solid, with none standing out over the others, but there's also no "fillers" either, you could literally reverse the order of the songs and it wouldn't matter. If anything, the second half was stronger.

Fans of Buck Cherry, Velvet Revolver, Nickelback and Hinder will dig this band, they are primed for bigger success, they just have the sound that will appeal to a wide variety of people.
