Queensryche's Geoff Tate was kind enough to do an interview with us for ROCK AND HARD PLACE, where we talked about "Tribe", the tour, the reunion with Chris DeGargmo, the music biz, Iraq and more. CLICK HERE TO LISTEN!

For many of us, when Queensryche has a new project out, it's not just a "release", it's an "EVENT"!  When you talk about influencial bands of the past 2 decades, they have to be on the list.  Consider all the bands in Europe that claim Queensryche as a major influence.  For their first project on Sanctuary Records, they come out with a must-have 2-CD set of their greatest music LIVE from Seattle's Moore Theatre.  It serves a dual purpose as an introduction to the band for someone just getting into Progressive Metal.  They cover every era of their careers, from their debut EP to their latest release Q2K.  On a personal note, I heard almost all the songs I wanted to, except "Best I Can" and "En Force", but hearing "Screaming In Digital" and "Take Hold Of The Flame" made up for that ten-fold.  What still amazes me is the immortal Geoff Tate's voice and his ability to stay dead on the entire duration.

I look at this as a "new beginning" for the band, they've carefully constructed their best work into this project and position themselves for a new studio project hopefully in the near future.  You'll be hard-pressed to find a band with this much intelligence, class and integrity in ANY musical genre.
